Steps to bleach wig knots

1.Prepare the bleach mixture

Put the gloves on your hands to prevent contact with the bleach. Mix the bleach powder with the developer in the mixing bowl according to the instructions. If the mixture is too thin, it will permeate through the lace and bleach the hair. 30 and 40 volume developers are stronger and may cause more damage to wigs if you don’t use them correctly. Although the stronger the developer, the faster the wig bleaching process will be, the 40 volume developer is not recommended to be used at home. Especially for beginners, we recommend 20 and 30 volume developers, because they are safer and easier to control.

2.Apply the bleach mixture on wig knots

Turn the wig inside out, take the brush and dip it into the bleach mixture. Gently dab the bleach mixture directly onto the lace, and evenly cover all wig knots. Make sure the bleach doesn’t seep through the lace and bleach the roots of the hair.

3.Wrap the bleach area with the aluminum foil

Until you finish the whole applying process and all wig knots are covered, wrap the bleach area with aluminum foil to prevent the bleach from drying out too quickly.

According to the instructions, wait for a period of time. Generally, it will take about 15-30 minutes for the wig knots to lighten to your desired effect. You’d better check every 5 minutes to avoid over-bleaching. Once the wig knots have reached your desired color, you can move on to the next step.

Hold the lace area towards the running water, rinsing off all the bleach. You can adjust the angle of your holds to avoid the bleach splashing on the wig hair.
